eris@ was created in 1998 as an initiative by regional authorities within the EU based on the results and activities of the Inter-Regional Information Society Initiative (IRISI) and Regional Information Society Initiative (RISI) launched by the European Commission in 1995 and 1997 respectively. Whilst the 28 founding regions recognised that Regions compete with each other, they understood that regions also have much to gain through co-operation and collaboration. Accordingly, eris@ was established as a not-for-profit organisation as a vehicle for the exchange of experience, the development and sharing of best practice, and for collaboration in the development of inter-regional applications and services.

CSP is a non-profit Information-and-Communication-Technology Research Centre, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Scientific Research. Its shareholders include local government, universities and industrial organizations. CSP is a non-profit Information-and-Communication-Technology Research Centre, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Scientific Research. CSP’s targets are technology transfer and Information Society implementation through a strong synergy with academic institutions, private business and local government. The strong bond created with academic institutions through five permanent laboratories with Turin Polytechnic and the University of Turin enables CSP to be a point of reference in service innovation and new technology management.

Created in 1994, Aquitaine Europe Communication (AEC) is an initiative of the Regional Council of Aquitaine, under the auspices of the European Commission and DATAR (National Country Planning agency) with one main objective: facilitating the regional implementation of the Information Society, by promoting IT solutions to a series of target publics.
AEC's strategy relies on a comprehensive approach combining highly focused information, benchmarking and engineering activities addressing a wide variety of user’s needs.

Technology Centre Hermia Ltd is a catalyst for the innovation in the Tampere region – promoting the emergence of new, technology-oriented businesses and developing the competitiveness of existing technology clusters. In the Tampere Region TCH is responsible for the cluster management of Mechanical Engineering and Automation and Information and Communication Technology industries. Hermia is also the coordinator of the Tampere Region Centre of Expertise Programme.

The company operates in both public and private sectors, and has undertaken a wide range of consultancy assignments in the UK, Ireland and more widely at the European level. The company was one of the pioneers of the EU wide drive towards regional innovation strategies and the information society initiatives from 1994 onwards. In recent years the company has specialised in the development of both innovation tools and regional strategies and in particular in the area of services innovation and innovation in knowledge intensive business services. More specifically in the area of e-business, CMI has worked extensively for private companies in the UK and France in advising on the transforming of the business model to accommodate e-business. In particular, in Wales CMI has developed and accompanied a number of the SME support programmes leading to eAdoption and e-procurement that have been instituted by the Welsh Development Agency.
