Aims and Objectives

The overall aim of the peardrop project is to

  • evaluate and analyse;
  • adapt and model;
  • promote and exploit; and
  • disseminate

existing and evolving knowledge, evidence, systems and tools regarding regional innovation ecosystems and digital business ecosystems so as to enhance regional development efforts in support of

  • increased regional competitiveness and job creation,
  • competitiveness of the European ICT industry,
  • the goals of the Lisbon Agenda and
  • European IST RTD and take-up.

To do so, peardrop seeks specifically to increase the number of regions participating in the activities in the innovation ecosystem field and the number of regions actively planning and/or seeking to deploy it.

peardrop does so through:

  • A virtual community of interest representing regional development & information society communities.
  • International stakeholders workshops
  • Web-based services in a range of languages.
  • Synthesis Toolkit for Regional DBE Deployment in a range of languages.

The efforts of peardrop will be both broad and deep. In-depth dissemination and sharing of experience will be carried out within a small number of carefully selected regions and through the dissemination of its results in an innovative manner to as wide an audience as possible across all member states. peardrop will do this by taking full advantage of the events and activities of other organisations (such as TeleCities, ELANET, IRE, EURADA, etc), projects (such as IANIS+, ERIK+, TRANSFORM) and events (such as eris@ annual conference, EISCO, ISSS, etc).
